Deciding to go to therapy can be anxiety-provoking for many reasons. Finding a therapist you connect with can be a particularly overwhelming part of the process. It's hard to know if someone will be a good fit for you based on their online information, so it's usually a good idea to meet with several therapists to see who you connect with the most. I recommend asking therapists how they typically work and how they think they can help you specifically. Therapy shouldn't be mysterious; in fact, it's very important that you and your therapist agree on the goals of therapy and how you working on those goals. When you meet with a therapist, it's important that you walk away feeling like you both understand why you're there, where you want to get to, and how you'll get there.
